Question KEL-TEC Sub 2000 40 S&W

Greetings
Anyone own one & been firing cast through it ??
It looks like a great little rifle to have about for home defense & hauling about on a motorcycle. Hardly weights 5 pounds and when it is folded measures about 18 inches. Why were these not issued to tank crews????

I have had one for a couple of years.
It works well enough and shoots better than a handgun at 100 yards but not as good as a decent rifle.
I shot both jacketed and commercial cast boolits through the gun and they both functioned reliably from the beginning.
Pistol cartridges at any longer range are just not terribly impressive for accuracy or power.
The Keltec Sub 2000 seems well enough made for the price.
I bought mine to use the Sig mags as that is the brand of semi auto handgun that I shoot.
It has not made it out to the range for a couple of years as I would rather shoot my Ruger single actions than the carbine.
I have kept it as I think that it would be better to carry in the car when traveling out of state than a handgun. It would probably not be subject to as many local laws and can be easily carried in a small suitcase or briefcase without attracting any notice.
The factory sights are a bit crude but will keep you on a gallon jug at 50 yards with no problem.
The odd little key that locks the gun is clumsy to use and easy to loose.
I'm using a homemade one as the original was lost and the factory promised to send another one but never did.

Grretings Thanks for the info Jack. I took mine out today to "fire lap" ( I used Metal Glo) the barrel and set the sights. First 5 rounds after lapping and cleaning were impressive. Using my standard Glock cast load it shot the first round low then 4 into a tight clover leaf at 25 yards. Had to move the front sight to the top of travel to get it 1.5 " high at 25 tds. But it will shoot golf balls at 25 with me sitting.
Your idea of car carry was why I bought it. Easily fits into a standard size metal briefcase.
I went the Glock route as I have several 40 S&H models so lots of magazines.
