    Discoloration on newly cast bullets

So I emptied out my bucket of 9mm bullets and found that many if not all have some level of discoloration on them. These are 135gr 9mm water dropped COWW alloy. I cannot get it to rub off and with all that I have of them rubbing it off is simply not an option anyways since I probably have 2000 of them. I can get other pictures if needed (horrible time with camera today) Click image for larger version.

ID:	158433but essentially this is a black/deep grey splotching on them. These are to be Hi tek coated so I need to figure out either how to remove this or if there is any problem and this is just an water quality issue and it will coat fine.

    Thank you

Coat a small handful of them and see what happens. Probably a non issue.

Wipe with solvent. They'll atleast be grease & oil free for coating.

Likely from hard water. Shouldnt pose a problem.

Ok, thanks, I just have not seen this before. I make sure everything is clean before starting, water, cloths that I put in the bucket etc, so to see them with anything like that is annoying. I will acetone everything and attempt coating.

I have never seen that, either. Interesting...I would tend to think that it might have something to do with quenching...and I haven't quenched a bullet since waaaayyyy back in the day...the year I started casting.

Most of my water dropped bullets come out with specs and splotches. Coat and shoot.

    I've thought about that.

    1. Dirty water. Or container.

    2. The metal mix could cool at a slightly different rate leaving that look.

    3. Aliens.

    4. Not something to really worry about I haven't had a issue with them yet. But I also stopped water cooling.

It's from the water, you put them away with some moisture on them and got water stains.
Shouldn't hurt anything, next time dry them well, towel , hair dryer or sun.
One of the reasons I don't water drop .

This is one thing I can answer that it is definitey not. They had this literally as I was taking them out of the bucket. Only other things I am certain is that container was clean and water was as clean as you can get out of a central Florida tap. Appreciate the help guys. Once I inspect these and get to coating I will check them out and see if it effects anythng.

I spread them on a towel to dry. They dry quickly and don't spot.
