I'd be happy to do it, but unfortunately I am located overseas. I am sure someone else can send you a few samples.

Great score! I got one for $69 with RCBS handles, and thought it was a great deal too.
Certainly. The overall length of the bullet is .815" and the nose length is .350".
It's also a magnificent bullet, but I feel that the 45-300-SWC is more versatile for my uses, I shoot a lot of .454 Casull and hot .45 Colt stuff.
How RCBS could discontinue this mold is beyond me, it's one of the best shooting bullets I have used in several 45-caliber revolvers. I Have bought 3 of this mold, and currently own two of them. I...

I'll shoot him a message, thanks.

Maybe now that Magma gave up the ghost, someone else will start making them. There should definitively be a demand, there are many Stars and other machines that use Star dies around. Maybe Lathesmith...

And now nobody makes dies for the Star sizers, or am I wrong?

It sure seems like too high temperure could be the culprit.

I misread the pressure setting, it was at 65 PSi. I think I know what's happening, but why it's happening I have no idea. I believe that when I size bullets, air is pushed through the holes in the...

Thanks a lot for the input guys, I now have several things I need to try. I will try to increase heat, and also back of the pressure a little bit. I forgot to include the type of lube I am using....
Forum: The Star Equipment Corner
I have an annoying problem, no matter what I do, the lube on my bullets has a milky color. I have tried everything, like pushing out air without a bullet in the die, melting the lube and pouring it...
That is of course a possibility, but I would prefer to use LP primers, and .454 Casull brass is cheaper and more readily available also.
I am lifting this thread again since I acquired a tool to open the primer pockets on the .454 brass. I don't shoot much full power loads any more, and figured that a LP primer should be sufficient...

I'll try to shoot them e few times more to see if they stretch. The Redding dual ring sizer almost doesn't work the brass at all, I really like them for case longevity. The regular sizer might be a...

All cases are fully resized before measuring them. Dillon dies seem to work the brass the most, so I tried to size the short cases with that die. I usually use Redding dual ring dies.

I have actually tried that, excessive belling and then sizing the brass. Unfortunately I have not seen any change in length. I could try to anneal them and give them a few firings to see if that will...

They are fired in Freedom Arms guns, and they have pretty tight chambers. I have not seen that the cases stretch much, but I could try to fire the same cases a dozen times to see of there is any...

I was actually looking into the Tim Smith-Lyon’s Case Stretcher, but it seems to be made for 45-caliber rifle only. But making something similar for the slightly smaller diameter of .454 Casull might...

I have spent too much money on blinker oil at my local mechanic to be fooled.

Sounds intriguing, what is the brass stretcher?
Forum: Reloading Equipment
Hi,
I have some FA headstamped .454 Casull brass, and some of the cases are a little short. I don't want to trim all of my cases to match the short cases, so I was wondering if there is a way to...

The Dayton 4M080E motor is almost identical to the original CV-500 motor. Just swap out the mounts with the mounts on your original motor, and you're good to go. You need to file a flat area on the...
