    how slow is too slow for a GC bullet not to lose its check ?

    alwasys heard a thousand fps and above : ok for gas checks.. less ...implies a problem..

    well I have dropped them on the floor and they seem to work ok . didnt see the speed but was about 32fps

    I have shot them out of a j frame snubbie, probably 700 fps, no problem.

    To reduce costs, many of us do not use a gas check boolit unless it is needed to avoid leading.

    Lots of variables but somewhere between 800 to 1,000 FPS leading will occur without a gas check boolit. Consider switching to a gas checked boolit when leading is noticed.

    A gas check boolit can be used at lower speeds without a problem.

    I think this is about using a gas check design WITHOUT the gas check...
    It depends alot about alot..
    Boolit fit, powder burning speed, barrel condition and on revovers indexing and cone shape, seating depth, mix and hardness, base band thicknes.....
    ME.. I figure if the pressure factor is such and such and I can get by without thet bandade I load 5 and give it a go checking the barrel after each shot.
