Smile Carry Permit for retired law enforcement

There was a law passed in the last couple of years, it concerned a nationwide (or some such) carry permit for retired law enforcement.
Who knows of a web site with the particulars?

yup. Federal law. It allows actively employeed law enforcement officers and retirees to carry across state lines, provided the respective states want to receive a dime in federal aid.

I want to say it passed 4 or 5 years ago.

    No requirements?
    Just proof of retirement status.

That rings a bell and reminds me why I was against it as passed.

    Thanx, Louis

    Retired CCW

I believe the requirement is to qualify, to the satisfication of issueing agency, and get a ccw permitissued. This along with your proof of retirement status will work. At least it does in Baxter Cty, Ar.

NYSP refuses to assist retired members who wish to utilize this law as there is no qualification for retired NYSP.

Wisconsin's AG's office is officialy ignoring that federal law. They are "researching" how to impliment it, for the past 4 or 5 years.

Nebraska NSP officers are given a letter of retirment, and a copy of their yearly qualification and an ID card that identifies tham as retired leo. They are required to carry all of these with them if they intend to carry. Our department issues a badge with RETIRED and the letter and qual sheet.
