    nipple replacement?

Would anyone know the size or number for replacement nipples for a 1847 Walker and a 1860 Navy Arms. Both 44 Cal. pistols?

Check out Track of the Wolf Website - they usually list replacement sizes for all guns

They will take a size 10 cap. Usually, at least I have found, they are sold in a pack of six.
    I sharpen mine.

While you could start with a 12-28 (1/2-28) nipple, nipples and caps seem to vary considerably, so you really have to try them out and see what they do.

There's no simple answer for any given gun design, as the nipples used one year may come from a different supplier another year.
There just is no spec, except for thread size.

Notice - the various suppliers do not specify the nipple length, shape of the cone (including the opening at the top), distance across the flats or even recommended cap size, all of which matter.

Finally, as to caps, there's no real commonality with respect to designated size between manufacturers - so specifying a given cap size essentially means nothing without also specifying the manufacturer.

For example: a #10 cap from CCI is not the same as a #10 cap from Remington, and who knows where RSW falls.

Once you discover a combination that works on your particular shootin' iron(s), my advice to you would be: stock up.

    .

1847 ASM Walker takes a metric M7x1 mm nipple..
A Pietta 1860 ARMY uses an M6x.75 mm nipple..

I find that Hooters has quite a selection of nipples, from medium to extra large. Oh, maybe that is not the type you were needing.
