Those would make a very heavy pistol.

FWIW, my FIL had an old pistol that was about that size. After some research found it was made in the 1700's and was a 'Gentleman's Pocket Pistol'. It was a largish caliber (.58 or bigger) and smooth bore. A local museum accepted it in one of their displays.
Mesquite is nice stuff There used to be a company in Tucson that made gun stocks from it. But, if you get the wood in some areas the caliche gets up in the tree and it ends up 'eating' cutting tools.
That would be one mighty big pocket...
