    Green tip 556

I wasn’t sure where to ask this question, but figured someone in here might know. What color green is the green tip on ammunition. It looks to me to be very uniform regardless of ammunition manufacturer.

That's because it probably has a milspec composition.

No answer on the specific flavor of green Color for M855 - but here is a spec sheet for consideration:

    https://usarmorment.com/pdf/M855.pdf

Where as the replacement is considered a "Green Round" which is a euphemism for Environmentally Friendly; but it DOES NOT have a color green tip. The Replacement is the M855A1 and a spec sheet:

    https://usarmorment.com/pdf/M855A1.pdf

and a cut away section comparing the M855 and the new M855A1.

Once again; no answer to your question on the particular color of green - but will become a moot point as the M855 is disappearing (unless we should see sold on surplus market; but doubtful given todays world - most M855 is Over Runs sold to the Public).

M855 is available from many commercial manufacturers today, including Winchester and IMI. M855A1 is not available to the general public that I have seen, but new manufactured good old fashioned green tip is everywhere.
