    Spencer carbine front sight

I have an Armi Spencer carbine in 56-50 and the front sight is about 1/16" too short. The blade is an integral part of the sight base which is I assume is sliver soldered or brazed to the barrel. Is there an easy way to add to the height of the front sight blade? Or, will the front sight base have to have a slot milled in it and a replaceable blade of the correct height installed?

I have taken a lot of vintage style front sights and soldered a brass rod to the top of the blade.
Use a brass rod that is just a little thicker than the width of the blade.
Then when soldered on , file it to the height and width needed.
Most of the sights I had to do that on were Worn sights that kind of got rounded off over the years.
You can sweat solder Steel to the existing sight also instead of brass

LAGS, what diameter rod did you use?

I measured the width of the sight blade.
Like say it is 1/16" wide.
Then soldered on a 3/32" piece of rod to it.
    When cooled down.
I filed it to the same width as the sight blade.
Then when I shot the rifles.
I would file the top down to the height I would need.
Then put Brass Black on the brass section if you want the brass not to show as much.
You can do the same using a steel rod.
About all you might be able to see on both would be the very thin line of solder that attaches the pieces together.
Sweat soldering the parts together is not that hard.
    And is reasonably durable.
