.44mag Load data Griers Hard Cast 300gr. FP

I have a few boxes of some old Grier's Hard Cast 300 grain .429 dia. bullets. I have attached a picture.

I am looking to load them up for my Ruger Super Blackhawk. I want to shoot these for targets, not hunting, so the lightest most enjoyable load I can get with this heavy bullet.

Any suggestions on a load? I have some data in my Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook for their 300 gr. bullet, and some data in my Oregon Trail Laser Cast book for a 300 gr. FP. I just want some other opinions on a load for this specific bullet if anyone has a good load.

I have a fair amount of 4227 and 2400 powders, which seem appropriate. Click image for larger version.

Even to 8... I have used 15gr Blue dot...but with the GasChecked Lee
    with what you have???
20 - 21.6 gr of 4227 worked good with the GC Lee in my Contender...
Double check these loads in a reputable manual...as I take Zero Responsibility for what you do...

Lee mold 310 grainers with 12.5 gr. of 2400 pretty much all go in the same hole at 25 yards from the bench. Light and enjoyable load.

Thanks for the help. I have some Unique also that needs used up. A whole lot more than 2400, so maybe I will start there. Gets me thinking about the Unique, so any other load suggestions with Unique would be appreciated!

I suggest a thin coat of LLA to those bullets before use. Will cut most of the probable leading if that lube is a hard wax.

My Ruger 4.6 in Bbl superblackhawk the Lee 310 gr shot really well with 7.0 gr of Unique. This boolit also did well in my Charter Arms Bulldog in 44 special with 5.5 gr unique. Good amount of recoil but more of a strong push than a snap. Good luck and have fun! Tim

because they are sized at .429, like previously stated it would be best to coat with liquid lube like lee alox. and dont try to push them too fast
17 grains of 4227 or 14 grains of 2400 is where I would start.
I shoot quite a few cast bullets in several 44 mags and always lube size at .431

.429 hard boolit and light load is a recipe for leading.
Paper targets aren't your friends. They won't lie for you and they don't care if your feelings get hurt.

With 300ish bullets, I like 10.5 of Longshot. Shoots around an inch at 25 out of my Bisley.

I use 5 grains of Red Dot for a similar bullet, very mild. Paper and steel targets do not care how hard you hit them.
