Deer season is over; but squirrel season never closes in the Cross Timbers!
Lucky man. We have a "generous" 6 month squirrel season here, trying to max it out before it (sadly) closes end of February.

Yesterday in my reloading room: sanding my bench top, tinkering with new Lee classic cast turret press.

With my newly acquired brass, I felt the need to channel my grandfather. I got out his Lee Loader and proceeded to make 50 - 225 Winchester. Really looking forward to taking his model 70 out to call in some coyotes this weekend.

It's cold today so I ran the clay back stove and loaded some .40S&W with the Lee 175 TLTC over 5grs of AA#2 and some .38 Special with the Speer swaged 158gr SWCHP over 3.5grs of Red Dot.

de-primed 3500ish brass 38 specials. Tomorrow I will work on the nickel-plated ones. Thats going to take more than one day. The wife wanted me to ask you guys if having 8-9000 38 cases was a bit much. Hope she does not start asking about my 357 and 44 stash.

Mocked up dummy cartridges for 45-70 collar button gallery loads. They cycled great, so proceeded to load and test some rounds with my MP Molds (MiHec) 153-grain collar buttons. Ballistically stable at 20 yards, cutting nice round holes in paper, and reasonably accurate shooting offhand. They were a bit louder than desired so I'm working down now. Will also be doing serious testing (not shooting offhand) and looking for something that groups within 1/2" at 25 yards. The goal is to be able to carry my deer rifle with a few small game loads in the pocket and some good dope to go with them.

I would really enjoy hearing your loads and experience if you find the time.

Thanks for the post. This is extremely interesting!! I want to know how this is done. I saw a post, i think of yours, before and got hooked. I am by no means ready to begin, but think it is a necessary skill set!! I started saving used primers a few months ago.

So obviously you had steel and zinc mixed in?

    Dieselhorses,

No steel or zinc. I presorted to cull out the steel, zinc and plastic. Also put SOWW in a separates buckets for another day. There may have been one or two that I missed, but with a lot pot temperature they floated to the top and were scooped out.

Not to cold in Deerfield ,Mass today, but headed down to the loading room and turned on a new audiobook and went to work. The book ,Is titled "THE REAL ANTONY FAUCI " BY ROBERT F. KENNADY JR... oh boy ........loaded up some .308 /150 gr fmj bt , and then some 5.56 x 45 's ....and got thru 3 chapters of the book.....feeling at the end fulfilled cause I got some tings to go play with and now all I got to do is find some pictures of Fauci and. Bill Gates go and to make holes in the paper pictures at 100 yards !!! Have any of you guys wondered why IVERMECTIN, AND THAT OTHER DRUG were pulled off the shelves a year ago ?......Well it was because they worked to save lives from COVID but since the patten's were expired , and they were like 17 cents a dose , the big pharma exercised it's muscle and made them go bye bye !!! enough of my rant ...read the book !!
