I was given a box of lazercast commercial bullets that were .307"- I tried to get a group with them from my 94 Winchester and couldn't. But they made good Lee C309150Fs - after I melted them!

That’s too funny. These are way too expensive to melt down as I have lots of lead ready to cast. Just don’t have a 308 mold yet. $40 for 2.5lbs of lead is way to much to melt down. I will likely sell these and recoup some costs. I think I need a 312 mold so I can size down or paper patch these.

I'm sorry to recommend this ....... but I'd cut my losses on this one .
And I have learned a valuable lesson - the U.S. postage stamp does not go as far when it leaves the U.S.

You ask the right question, He did not mention the cartridge. 308 fits a number of cartridges. It would be nice if posters would mention the cartridge and most do. I have forgotten to do that several times myself.

Sorry. When I mentioned 308 bullet I meant for my 308.

I wasn't hitting paper. so i went to the 25yrd range and set up a nice big sheet of paper. No word of a lie i was getting 1.5 - 2 foot groupings??? WTH. My guess is these are undersized for my barrel and bounce around?

The reason for purchasing is i don't have a mold yet. Waiting on a group buy which will likely take a year lol.

Should i be upping the powder? or just cut my losses and sell them.

Call NOE and ask them when this https://noebulletmolds.com/site/shop...ity-gc-314466/ will be in stock, get the mold then size cast bullets to 0.311” and load it over 13.0 grains of Red Dot. It will shoot like this:

Make sure you get the gas check version. Don’t worry that it is oversized and don’t worry about the size of your barrel, 0.311” will work.
    Now you are started.

The problem is way to much of the wrong powder for a non GC'd bullet in your 308W. You are simply pushing a non GC'd cast bullet too fast.

Suggest using 10 - 11 gr Red Dot or Unique and dropping the velocity down to 1000 - 1400 fps. With Bullseye try 6 - 8 gr. No filler or wad with any of those powders.

Thanks. I do have bullseye on hand. I will load up a few and try it.
