Can’t remember which thread it was on, or which one of you mentioned using your limb lopper to cut lead water pipe. But whoever it was, Thank You!!
I have a bunch of lead pipe I bought, and I read that the other night somebody used a limb lopper. I have been on the road this week so couldn’t try it out until today.
My Fiskar’s limb lopper cuts through that lead pipe like a hot knife through butter. THANK YOU!!!!!

Was not I, but I agree they do work great for cutting lead pipe 1" in diameter and less.

Must be kinda hard on the blades ...why not use a ... Pipe Cutter ...
My pipe cutter makes short work of steel water and gas pipe ... lead pipe should easy cutting .
I would save my limb cutter for limbs ... but that's just me being Captain Obvious .

I don't think it would be any harder on the blade cutting lead pipe than it would be cutting a hardwood limb an inch and a half in diameter.
The new style of geared limb loppers work pretty easy. There are even PVC pipe cutters in a very similar design.

I still lave some six inch pieces of soft lead and some joints in my lead cabinet. Formthe life of me I can't remember how we cut it up.
I use a Lee Pro 4 20 lb pot. You can cut the pieces to any size you like. It literally just slices through the pipe.

Not that I'm aware of Gary.
I think the key point here is that we are trying to break lead pipe (soft stuff really) down so it will fit into our smelting pots, not cut it cleanly so we can make a pressure tight seal.

Sawzall with a demolition blade works great.
Unlike many who seem compelled to tell you "what really worked well for you" isn't the right tool, I too find those limb loppers handy for a lot more than just lopping limbs. A question for you though, which jaw/cutter type did you use? The straight blade against anvil type or the curved jaws type?
