    Weight of empty solder spools?

If you were weighing solder for sale or purchase, how much would you deduct for plastic or metal spools.

Also would you pay extra shipping to get it on spools that would not fit in flat rate boxes?

    Thanks in advance

Some would prefer it on the spool so they could see exactly what they were getting (just like they prefer linotype/monotype in the type form and not smelted into bars)

I'd give them the option of paying more for shipping on the spool. With the metal spools, you could flatten the spool with a truck or ? and they would still show the alloy.

You could always unroll some and find out, I throw all my empties away.

Take the end of the spool off with the info and attach to solder. Flatten and ship.

There must be more to the story?

The spools don't hardly weigh anything, I wouldn't worry about it.
Shipping? they'll fit nicely in a padded flat rate envelope.

Remember that when you buy a spool of solder in a store, you are buying solder and the spool not just the solder.Robert

Solid core or acid core would make more difference.
