    solder 30/70 mix

my friend is giving me 50lbs. of bar solder stamped 30/70 mix.
is the first# lead content and the second tin,or is it just the opposite.
if the first # is lead and lets say i mix it with lead how much additional lead
would i need for lyman's 32 alloy? dan

it is 70% Lead 30% Tin typically. You cannot make lyman #2 without finding a source of antimony to add with it as well. You might be better off trading the solder to a BP Shooter for Linotype that can be used to make #2.
