IMR 4759 and PB at a lgs

I just stopped into a lgs to look at guns and for a collet die and while looking at their large selection of very expensive powder ( $48/lb VV? $240 8lb of Red Dot?) Saw about 10 cans each of 4759 and Pb. Cans as in the 9oz or so ones. I.was not tempted at the $25 on the Pb or the $28 on the 4759.

Good thing they have a long shelf life as I think they are going to be there awhile.

I paid 22:50 for my last 8 lb jug of Promo, that is including shipping and hazmat.

Brick and mortar stores have expenses, they have to keep the lights on somehow.
But personally that is more than I would pay this decade. Perhaps if I was desperate enough.

$22.50 GhostHawk? When was that, 1937?

I understand that stores have to keep their lights on but would you pay $30 for a set of scope rings that are $10 at WalMart? The set of Weavers I just bought were exactly that at Cabela's and Wally World

A couple of years ago I was nosing around in a LGS and the proprietor led me into the back room to show me his collection of half pound tins of PB. He said, "This stuff has been here awhile and really needs to be used up. How about $15 for two cans?" I jumped on that but now I wish I'd gone for the whole pile. That's the kind of local guy I like to do business with.

Those prices are a little higher than here. The VV is really high. $30 a # for rifle powder is normal. And there are no breaks for buying an 8# jug. Internet prices don't exist locally for me. I would have bought the 4759.

Maybe I'll go back by and get it. I'll dump the powder into a plastic jug and sell the cans for collectors items.
