It is common knowledge that the most accurate loads in the calibers mentioned use NO CRIMP, relying on consistent case neck tension, stop encouraging new reloaders to spend money on things that are a gimmick.

Everyone should buy them because they aren't a gimmick. Especially new reloaders. Does that make it better?

3 into a guitar pick @ 200yds laying prone no bipod is not good enough for you? I rest my case. Yes they were COLLET CRIMPED.

I hit a turkey at 340yds boolit struck within 1/2" of POA. Yes it was a COLLET CRIMPED round. Will YOUR .308 do that?
    Got a .22 .30 .32 .357 .38 .40 .41 .44 .45 .480 or .500 S&W cylinder that needs throats honed? 9mm, 10mm/40S&W, 45 ACP pistol barrel that won't "plunk" your handloads? 480 Ruger or 475 Linebaugh cylinder that needs the "step" reamed to 6° 30min chamfer? I use the FCD's in several calibers.

It removes the flare in the case mouth that I put in it to seat an oversize cast bullet.

I will agree that, in theory, if you are seating a .360" bullet into a sized .357 mag case then there is sufficient case tension to ensure good ignition. But you are still left with the belled case mouth and the FCD fixes that for me.

I don't use the crimping action of the seating dies for this as the bullet diameter is too large.

My other dies are for rifle and again I use the FCD to eliminate the bell in the case mouth.

I use it sometimes on my jacketed bullets and sometimes I don't.

If someone wants to use them what's the big deal?

Try using on neck tension and no crimp on some hot 44 mag loads out of a red hawk with out a crimp and see what happens. Good luck turning the cylinder after the third shot.......

It seems like most folks that own them have responded in a favorable manner.

Since that is the case I hope to get one to try in a caliber I load and shoot the most of and in.

Now, just gotta decide which one.......

The OP never mentioned loading for a .44 Mag. revolver, for regular rifle cals. not crimping will help accuracy, check benchrest and CBA benchrest loading techniques.

I like a taper crimp for the 44 and the 500 Linebaugh. Took a Catalina goat with a 350 grain lead pill and 32 grains of 4227. Worked well.

    Take care
