All my grips

These are all the grips I've made so far. I've done three sets in the last three weeks. From left to right;
Kudu horn on Single Seven
Merino Ram's horn on Bisley 45 Colt
Maple on Bisley 41 Mag
Bocote on SBH Bisley 480 Ruger
Rosewood (of some kind) on Bisley Hunter 41 Mag



The kudu turned out to be unimpressive, so I'll probably be trying something else for the Single Seven.

Nice looking work on the grips. Looks like you are a Ruger Bisley fan. I do like my old model Rugers. Have not ventured into grip making yet. I have an old model Super that is not too much fun to shoot with full loads because it hits my finger behind that square trigger guard. If I was to try grip making the Super would be my first try for sure.

The best part about making grips is that heavy recoil becomes much more manageable. I don't know why Ruger can't make better grips.

Those look real nice.

Lots of choices on exotic woods to make grips out of. I did Custom Knives for a while and tried most all of them.

Make sure you wear respirator when grinding on the heavy rosewoods like Cocobolo and the Ironwoods.

The fumes they emit are very toxic and I almost killed myself one day finding this out. NO Joke!

I use wormie chestnut for knife scales.I have some persimmon I think would work also.But point being..the chestnut for gun handles might look good..if you can find any.

Very nice! I've wanted to try making some as well. I have a bunch of curly and birdseye maple laying around. I'm curious about your process and any tips for someone who hadn't made any. I dabble in woodwork and have made knife scales before so I have some basic knowledge and tools. I've also learned to be extra careful around Cocobolo!
