they ain't fancy but they are repeatable and that's close enough, for most of what we do.
I got 3-k lbs of one huge batch of alloy I have no clue what's in it besides some tin and antimony and lead.
I'm not even 100% sure of it's bhn.
but it shoots in all of my guns just fine and I know I need to add this or that at this or that % to make it work in certain calibers.

    I'm fine with that...

I've used them before and they turn into bullets like the rest of the lead I've used.

PC them helps with unknown hardness as the PC is what touches the rifling and blast from the gunpowder

This method is amazing! It's fantastic when simply wanting to compare one piece to another and works ok for actually trying to put a BHN number it it too since we have the pencil/hardness chart. It's close enough to keep me in the less expensive mystery scrap materials instead of buying commercial, known alloy ingots.

Diver weights produced commercially by large makers like "Sea Pearls" use "Antimonial Lead" with a composition of about 95% Lead and 5% Antimony. Pure lead is too soft to be handled roughly so they add Antimony. Bang two of them together and you should hear a ring, not a thud. If they are homemade, they could be absolutely anything.

I have that mold and several sinker molds as well. Paid for many a trip to the beach to fish with the money made with those molds.
Back then a bucket of WW was always free and half a gal of sinkers got me a day on the pier and bate.
The local dive shops were happy to sell my dive weights with no S&H to deal with. I had lots of pure lead and mixed it about 50/50 with WWs.
    Information not shared. is wasted.
