I fill a large glass pasta sauce jar (empty and washed out of course) about 1/2 full and put it on the rotary tumbler for a while. Really trues up the balls and sprue nubs if any exist.

I have a .440" roundball mold I just might try in my 10 gauge shells as long as I can get them to load ok in the SP-10 wad .

Wish I had a .400" mold at my disposal I suppose that would be "00000" !

Shot the 0000 in my Parker lifter 10 gauge , LC Smith Q2 10 gauge , Ithaca NID 10 gauge and my Parker top lever hammer 10 gauge yesterday evening !
I also tried some .451" ML balls in the Parker top lever hammergun . I could get four balls and seven 9mm scoops of Grex inside the REM SP-10 wad . I shot them in that gun as it has the more open chokes of the 10's I have at the moment . It wasn't terrible but not great either !

A bit of "Western" gun lore:
Buckshot sizes were under different system in the West of the late 19th century.
Western buckshot pellet size comparison to current:
Western #1 = 0000B = .380" (used in 10 gauge shotguns)
Western #2 = 000B = .360"
Western #3 = 00B = .330"
Western #4 = 0B = .320"
Western #5 = 1B = .300"
Lawrence shot marketed bagged buckshot, using Western sizes, as late as 1979.
And for those old enough to remember veterans of the First World War, you might remember a few tales of how effective those old "three buck loads" were!

I did this load test couple years ago for my 12 ga. I still shoot cap and ball revolvers and have round ball molds in .375 (SACO, single) and .311 (Lee double) so I cast those with CCWW. Here's 6 .375 RB in a 12 ga using Unique (22.4grs IIRC), forgot the wad I used but its for a 1 1/4oz load, cut the petals off. Shotgun was a Rem 870 Police with 18" Cyl bore.

Of the seven 10 gauge doubles I have the least amount of choke in any of them is maybe heavy IC or mod . I'm on the lookout for a set of cut 10 gauge Parker hammerless barrels that would be cylinder but as of yet I've not found any that fit my criteria . I think my .380" balls would more then likely do better with a good bit less constriction . But I'll not know until I find a set of decent cut barrels .
