Identifying a wildcat case based on 32 Long Colt

    Greetings,

I recently acquired about 150, 32 Long Colt cases that were altered to 25 caliber status. Has anyone any experience with this cartridge?

    32 Long Colt case
    Body unchanged up to shoulder
0.625 base to start of shoulder
0.685 to the top of fairly sharp shoulder
0.920 OAL is pretty close to standard 32

I got them because I wanted the Colt brass with the intention of just blowing them back to correct size but I lost 3 of 10 to split, even though they were annealed for the first sizing.

    Inquiring minds...

    Thanks, Tim.

I found a box of unfired 32 Colt long in my reloading stuff today. I was told at one time they work in a 32 S&W long, they dont. You could have them to pay the postage.

Wow, that would make my converted rimfire falling block so very happy! That is a very generous offer. I will be happy to pay some extra as well. I will pm later tonight after work.

GONRA sez somebody's gonna get a good deal here!
Pretty sure 32 Colt long head diameter is smaller than commonly available 32 S&W long head diameter.
Bet its more difficult to purchase current production 32 Colt ammo than 32 S&W ammo!

You can try Cartridges Of the World it has a wildcat section in it kind of a pain but it might have it. You go to desired section then to caliber and find case description that matches at end of section is a chart that gives cartridges dimensions. Also obsolete, moderns , english, forieghn, handgun, shotgun, and rimfire sections. It is a handy book for information.
