Do you grow your own rubarb? Grand dad had some every late fall he would cut it of just above ground and cover it in a pile of old straw. Next spring he would uncover it alittle and let the straw go as fertilizer for it. Man I love rubarb but here in Tn. it just doesn't want to grow very well.

Rhubarb grows great here in the swamp.

I transplanted some last summer but don't think it survived... see if it comes up in spring I guess.
plant it on the south side of a small out building if you live in the country. gets constant light and rain from the roof. usually the building will have more moisture around the edge of the foundation also. pile compost on it as it loves to be fed. dont let weeds take it over. one time i bought a pint bottle of liquid fish fertilizer and put on a plant and it went nuts. got as tall as my chest. the two plants i planted on the south east side of a shed last year looked like 5 th year pants by fall. i put a sack of commercial compost in each hole before planting.going to put five more plants back their next spring. want enough to make some wine plus cobbler and pie. in the settlers day it was called the pie plant and they ate it all the time. a local ranchers wife gave me a deep dish piece of her rhubarb pie at christmas and i thought i went to heaven. was it good. the only other piece of pie that matched it was by a 100 year old lady a couple of years ago and that was deep dish choke cherry. not a pit in the whole piece. man was that good.

Rhubarb grows good here. I started with one plant and now have 5.
Most of mine goes to wine, but I still have 5 lbs in the freezer waiting to be ate. I'll have to get the ice cream freezer going too.
The only thing that could possibly be better on rhubarb pie than homemade ice cream might be homemade whipped topping. Maybe
I bet rhubarb cobbler is awesome.
Peach pie. My God that sounds good right now.
It was - sorry no peach pie left. Think I'll make some of the cinnamon rolls from a tube
