I converted a batch of 30-06 cases, but had some signs of overpressure, compared to the factory standard cases I had worked up. It seems the thicker walls on the mil brass reduced the internal volume (I think). It shot really well with 175 gr J-words designed for the .303 Brit. I carried it in the deer woods, until I traded it for a Savage 99.

This is why for decades the reloading manuals have advised reducing loads 10% when using military brass.

mikeORB, Not the stock, but a complete Modelo 1909 (has Lyman #57 receiver sight installed + Swedish Mauser front sight blade) that I'll put up for sale after Thanksgiving.

A reloading tip for the 7.65 Argie. You can neck size nice and easy with a Lee .303 British collet die. Works great.

Was the Swede Mauser front sight blade a direct fit replacement? Do you recall the number on the blade?

I have a bunch of them to get rid of

Damn. My two long rifles are McGrath 1894, and 1895. My 'carbine" was originally a long rifles, that appears to have been cut down from a long rifle... It's serial number puts it made in 1899. Certainly older than I thought they were... Grins

A new stock for my rifle will have to wait awhile as I found a plating shop to rechrome the furniture for my original 1891 rifle. I have seen a few stock for sale on EB** and Gunbroker.
