Shoot'em If You Got'em...
I'm not only because in England they have to keep changing the laws to the point of the absurd, illegal butter knife, and the citizens are punching bags/pin cushions for the thugs. A defenseless population of emasculated drones.
All well and good. But don't you need permission to have them? I see no handguns or semiautomatics. I don't expect people in Europe to understand the freedom we have here. You have been living under the thumb of some entity seemingly forever. I can go to the LGS and buy any non NFA item I want right now and it comes home w/ me. Is this the case where you live?
Yes if I take my Certificate to the LGS,I can take home anything I want providing it is not an Auto rifle or a Hand gun. This fits in with my shooting hoby,I have no wish to own Automatic Firearms but those who want to use them could join the Army.Bolt Action Rifles and Single shot Rifles are the norm here.I enjoy my shooting and rotate them often so they get used in turn.
the problem is between freedom and semi-free. when they tell you what you can buy and what type and make you have a license or have to ask permission then you are on the low side of semi-free.
Most of the shooting I do is of course at targets. When doing that I shoot rifles free hand and mainly use a lever action and sometimes a bolt action. Normally fill the tube on the lever action, but on the bolt actions I just put one in before I shoot. I practice with the military rifles, but enjoy it as much as the lever action .357.
For hunting deer my favorite rifle is a self loader and do practice on a routine basis with it. Of course a hand gun is handy for when one might need a gun, but have one isn't a primary concern. Where I live we are subject to militia call up until age 64 and would have to provide my own suitable arm. The state where my farm is and where I'll like move to in a few years has no upper age limit for militia duty.
Plus, I'm very interested in gun design and bought more than a few just to study them.
ps
What actually collect and may or may not shoot is the 1868 up to the Mauser 98 European military bolt actions. These are mainly black powder and inexpensive. Those I can shoot are fun to do so and shows how good a gun can shoot after 125+ years of being made.
Thanks for showing your collection.

Not true, Australia is a violent free utopia.
Noticed Jack Elam on one of the clips,he could fit in any western parts,a great character actor sadly gone now.

It is better to live one day as a LION than a dozen days as a Sheep.
Thomas Jefferson Quotations:
"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."
Antique Firearms are off ticket (no license needed)but if you wish to shoot them they must be added to your permit.Replicas of Antiques ie Colt Navys Remingtons etc must go on to the permit on purchase.Your question.Non Shooting Firearms,People do collect them but it is not my Cup of Tea.A recent law states that an antique Firearm cannot be sold to a felon (anybody who has had his/her collar felt). This is to be worked on since the seller cannot know if the purchaser has a criminal record.I shoot most Sundays at the Range,we have up to 500Yards starting at 100,200,300 and 500 yards. We have an indoor Range at 25 yards for Black Powder Pistols. Some weekend I shoot Clays with both Black Powder Percussion and Flintlock Shotguns,I also shoot modern Over and Under and side by side Shotguns.
australia is a socialist hellhole far worse thank the peoples republik of kommiefornia! trust me, i live there, its the safest place to be a criminal in the world! self defence is for all practical intents and purposes, illegal, firearms are rediculously restricted and expensive ( $600usd colt AR, will cost you 12k aus, IF you can get the license category to own it)!
now they're coming after our leaver actions..................
we need help, in a big way, please send the marines!!!!!!
downunderrunner,
re:firearms fair (gun show) maitland this week end.
Last year a licensed holder/shooter could sell his surplus firearms,as long as the buyer had a PTA (permit to aqiure).
This year Firearms registry fixed that with more regulations. Now only a Dealer collector or a ammo collector can sell.
Before gun laws, home invasion was a very small percentage ofr crime, now it is the major crime.Cause we cannot use a firearm or a stick to defend ourselves.
