250Sav case weight?

I'm converting these from 308LC brass, I know they're heavier than factory brass but I just don't have any empty factory brass laying around to check. Can a couple of you folks tell me what your factory 250 Savage brass weighs without a primer? And if so please be sure you mention the head stamp.

Winchester weigh 154 grains, Remington weigh 152.3 grains. You're right, yours will be heavier because the brass gets about 50% thicker on 308 and 243 cases as it gets close to the head, even commercial ones. Your military will be more perhaps. You'll have a stronger case, but a little less capacity, so drop your charges a little till you find out what works best. Too bad you don't have 243 cases, it's a lot less work.

I've done 243 cases, problem with those is they're shorter than spec. When someone comes out with a case stretcher I'll look into it. But the 243 conversion does require reaming in order to make work.

Thanks for the info, the 250Sav I have made are out for field trials. I'm only concerned at the moment with the base diameter on those. The SAAMI spec calls out a diameter of .467 and mine are .001 over that. The one thing about making those is chambers vary to some degree, so some will fit a chamber and some wont unless I make the base smaller.

What about using 22-250 brass? I think it ends up just a bit short also. I've formed it but never fired it as I don't own a rifle yet.

Ever try and find 22-250 lately at a good price? And if you do find some, how many times have you had to grab your ankles on the way to your wallet?

A number of years ago I remember seeing video of a case stretcher - it was linked from this site or from Shooters.com. I vaguely remember that it was related to Buffalo Arms and their brass making operation.

Sure does look like it. I remember seeing it in operation, though. I remember thinking it a good idea but more expensive than I liked, for a hobby.
