    .228 diameter RCBS

I'm interested in the .22caliber bullets and was looking through some catalogs on line and saw this, a .228 gas check RN 60 grain from RCBS.

Wondering how much deformation you would get pushing this through a .225 lube die.

What brought all this on was , my first attempt in casting .22 caliber, was with a Lyman 225415, took a while and finally got some that would pass for bullets, finally got the mould hot enough, used the #2 Lyman alloy mix, and water quenched. Let 'em set . Heck when miked 'em they were .224 out of the mold but I went ahead and put the GC's on and pushed them through the luber.

Was planning to shoot these through a Hornet and a .223 Rem. How many of you guys, shoot this 225415 as cast? What kind of rifles are you running these through, and back to the 1st question would the .228's size down and give me a better bullet.

Just a guess, it's intended for the .22 Savage High Power, which has a .228" Groove diameter.

Where did you see this? I have a .22 Savage High Power. I have an RCBS mold, but I might be interested in another.

Hey skeettx. You must be the same skeettex over on the 16ga. forum. I am xvigauge from the same forum. Glad to see you here. Most of the time I use different user names on different forums to keep my worlds from colliding, but it seems to be a good handle here too.

    Hello xvigauge,

yes I am the same fella
I LOVE shooting whether it be rifle, pistol or shotgun.
I must have over 300 molds but I am starting to sell most of them off that I do not
    use for current needs.

I am just getting started in reloading cast boolits. I have been reloading regular rifle bullets in lots of different calibers for 50 years. Don't know if I am going to get into casting or not as I don't really have the room or the place to do it. Maybe some day I will though. Good to hear from you.

I'm sizing .003" over bore for my remington 78 Bolt gun. I don't think I would have problem with that...fatter is better for me
