    Lee molds for 30WCF

Looking for recommendations of Lee molds for my 1928 vintage M-94 in 30WC, 30-30 for those who aren't familiar . Since I'm not big on unitaskers, I'd like it to work in my 30-06 too. I'm looking for something in the 150-160gr weight range.
The reason I want a Lee is two fold: 1) they come with handles & 2) my budget is REALLY TIGHT!

The Lee 150gr RF or the 170gr RF. Take your pick. Both of these bullets can work well if they cast large enough on the body and the nose.

Right now, my loads in the 30-30 are for low velocity and low kick plinking fun. I'm using the Lee 309-113F with 2.7gr Bullseye and a Lee 309-170F with 8.0gr Unique. Both give me 1 1/2" groups at 50 yards. Both loads shoot to the same POI without changing the scope. The 30-06 or any 30 cal. can use these boolits, also. That 170gr would make a great hunting boolit at higher velocity!

10-4. How well do they feed in a lever action?

They should feed and function fine. Just keep your loaded OAL at 2.550" or less and you should be fine.

Taco650: As the others have said the LEE moulds C309-113-F C309-150-F C309-170-F all work well in my 30-30 it being a Handi rifle single shot I'm not restricted to flat points and mine really likes the Lee C309-180-R. Though they will all work well in a 30-06 also I would opt for the 170F over the others in that cal. Good luck, sounds like a nice old gun. GP

The Lee C308-170-F feeds just fine in my 1970's vintage Winchester model 94.

Thanks for the input everyone. I was concerned the bore ride design might hinder functioning in a lever action but guess not. Thanks again!

I don't know what all weights/styles are available from Lee in this range but I used bullets cast from the 170 grain flat nose model in a .30-30 about twenty-five or more years ago. It was quite accurate. While dependent on several factors, you will probably find the heavier bullet is easier to get to shoot well than a lighter one.

I use the Lee C309-170-F with 18 gr. of IMR 4227 in my .308 and .30-30 and at 50 yds it makes 1 ragged hole.

I have two of the Lee 150 rf's and they both cast .298 on the nose. The 170 RF is the way to go IMO. None of the Ranch Dog designs I have fit the Winchester's tight throats.

    .

Ah yes, I've watched too many episodes of "Good Eats" to remember. Guess my secret is out LOL!! Glad to hear you understand the terminology. If money were no object, I'd splurge for more molds however...

I looked at the RD molds and wondered how well that wide metplat would work.

Thanks for the load info. May have to try that one if I can get some 4227.

Unitasker is an tool that has only one function. If you use it a lot it pays for itself. If you don't... it won't. I did autobody repair for almost 20 years. I had very few unitaskers in my tool box and the ones I did have I used regularly. I'm just too practical to spend hard earned $$$ on something I need just once in a while-guns excluded of course . Can you have too many guns??? LOL!

I have both the Lee 150 and the Lee 170. Both feed in both a Win 1894 and a Marlin 336, but the 170 seems to give .5-1" tighter groups in both guns at 100yds. For what it's worth though, I size them to .311" for my .30-30s, but .309" for my .30-06 and .308, cause neither of the bolt guns will chamber a .311".
I passed my last psych eval, how bout you?

Lee is the way to go.

I have the 150 & 170. So far I have just played with the 150. Gas checked and lubed with Alox I size to .309. Loaded for the kids with 24.5 of 3031, I get 1.5" at 50 yards.

Thanks for the info on the sizing. I wondered what dies I would need and it makes sense that the 30-30 would do better with a fatter boolit than the 30-06.
