Looks like you could flush the contents with H2O if you wanted. Wish I could find an old, well used berm to mine!

Those are the plastic seals that the factory puts over the barrel bungs. We just left them on the lid that we made the baffle from.

We used a heavy walled pipe for the center shaft so that we can plumb it for water if the need arises. As long as the dirt is dry it sifts just fine. Come spring we may have to go to the wet process. Luckily there is a nice sized pond a stone's throw from our mining site.

Great thread! Love the brilliance of the equipment made. Please keep us posted.

My buddy Randy did 99% of the cutting and welding. We both worked out the engineering together.

What I got bad is my lead level. I just got my test results back today and I'm at 11 MCG/dL. 10 is considered high so I am going to have to really watch my exposure from now on.

That is not too bad at all. Just make sure to watch the dust coming off the shoveling of the dirt and the scrap. Just wearing a little lite dust mask will help some.

I was gonna say - 11 shouldn't be bad at all. Above average, but not really bad. Would I wear a respirator ?? Oh, yeah. I do.
I got up to 21 once and it turned out to be the weekly shooting rimfires indoors. My doc said that was high normal for an adult.
After I stopped the indoor shooting, levels went right back down to 3 or 4. Mike

A friend had problems similar to yours. His Doctor recommended 1) eating an apple a day (helps absorb the nasties in your gut) and 2) washing up using coldwater and Lava type soap. The cold water keeps the skin's pores closed and the soap really does a number on the dirt/contamnants

Reminds me of the trammel setups the gold miners use. Wish I could get to our old range. From what I hear would need a chainsaw, bulldozer and front end loader to mine the berms. Hasn't been used in close to ten years but when it was it was heavily used, especially the pistol range. The club shot on that property for over 50 years and it has never been mined. I used to do some mining when the hipower guys shot on the rifle range as the pistol range was closed. A lot of the guys used them store bought hard cast bullets by the thousands. Frank
