Scored a Pound of Unique Today

Last week I missed a pound of Unique by 2 hours at a local sporting goods store. They got 4 pounds in at 4:00 PM, I was there at 6:00 PM. The store had a pound of Bullseye tho. Then yesterday would you believe they got 6 pounds of Unique and I scored a pound.

This is a good purchase and hopefully a good sign for us.

A major reloading store about an hour away said they had 300 guys on a waiting list for a pound of Unique.

    It is good news!
I'm not sure where all the money is that I've "saved" by casting and reloading!

I hope so. You should've bought the Bullseye.

Wow. I have not had a problem getting Unique or Bullseye for at least 6 months. Usually in stock.

That's great news! I traded into 2# of Herc 2400 this past week
What I wish we could still get is WC820, that was my favorite powder for a long time.

Bullseye has been extinct here at least since early 2013. I've spent much of my time trying to develop equivalent loads with other powders.

Bullseye and Uniques have been hard to find here in CA since mid 2013. I have 12 lbs of 700x hoping I can find equivalent loads.

I got a pound of my favorite IMR 4895 yesterday. So I should at least have enough for .30 WCF for awhile. They had no pistol powder though. Right now the slower rifle powders are in pretty good supply, very little of anything else. I have found you can substitute 700X for Bullseye pretty well, work up your loads carefully of course.

I found some Bullseye at Bass Pro in San Antonio yesterday. There was still 2 cans on the shelf when I left.

While on vacation was lucky enough to find 2 lbs Unique, felt like I'd won the lottery.

I'm looking for BlueDot, my favorite 9mm and 38 super powder. I tried using Accurate #7. A mid load is 8.0 grains and requires so much compression that the H&G #275 125-SWCBB nose is turned into a round nose! So I switched over to #5 which requires less of a charge. Now I have to get to the range and try it out.

The #7 works in the 38 Super just fine.
How's that hope and change working for you?

The only problem I've had with finding Unique around here is that it has been in 1# cans instead of 8# kegs. Plenty available here.

Jeeze, I feel bad for folks with this kind of availability.

My LGS got about 40 pounds of Unique, Red Dot and Bullseye a few weeks back and some of that is sitting in my reloading area now. Just the other day(and probably today too), they had W296, H110, IMR4227, and AutoComp on the shelves. Bought some of those as well and even a pound of the Autocomp to try out.

Now, if only I could get a few pounds of W231/HP38, then I'd be happy.
