I gotta agree. Such a versatile round. I think only the 30 caliber has more moulds to pick from. So easy to load. So many powders not only work, but work well.

After I opened up both the molds, size to .460 and started pan lubing my leading went away. Just picked up another Buffalo classic. I shot some Springfield loads about 1250 fps with the 500 gr. The rear sight hasn't enough elevation with that load. But has plenty with 13 gr. Unique. 500 gr putting along at 1050 fps. Wild or mild the 45-70 can handle it.

I launched some 405 LEE's paper patched loaded to the Marlin Data. Loaded with RX7 got 1980 FPS out of the 32 inch barrel. And I don't mind telling you that even with the Limbsaver slip on pad that steel crescent butt-plate backs up, hard. I think I can kill all the steel I need with the Trapdoor loads. Or lighter.

Just started messing with mine. Already was making swaged bullets using .45 ACP cases as jackets for my .458 SOCOM so I just needed to add another cannelure so I could load them in my Marlin lever.

Nice looking boolits 161. I just started hand loading for my 45-70. The older I get the worse my eyesight gets. Sure nice playing with no reading glasses on!

I have been debating swaging the 45/70 for awhile now. It might be time to take the leap.
