Marlin 1895 in 45-70 (1980) model and Model 336 30-30 made in 1971.

My vote is for Marlin. I have a 1894 in 357, two 336's in 30-30, plus a 39A caribine. The only Winchester that I own is a model 9410. I chose this one over the Marlin in 410. The Marlin just was not balanced right for me in 410 ga. My favorite is the 1894 in 357....... it is my go to deer gun here in East Texas where most shots are under 100 yards. It is a well balanced, light, and fast handling gun. I replaced the factory sight with a Williams FP peep sight a few years back due to my eyes going bad.
I voted Rossi. I picked up my first lever in October. It's a Rossi .357 in stainless with a 20" round barrel. Nice balance, smooth action and fun to shoot. The only thing it wouldn't feed was HBWC backwards in 38 cases. It will feed them with no problems in 357 cases. It also helped to convince my 13 yr old son to go deer hunting with me for the first time after Thanksgiving. He held out for a buck, but we didn't see a legal one. Our TX county has antler restrictions, so they have to have at least a 13" inside spread to be legal. He says he may try for a doe when we go back in a couple of weeks. If he gets his first deer with it, it will be priceless.
Marlin all the way for me. I've tried just about all of them, own a couple of different ones and have owned others ... but a good ole JM stamped Marlin is hard to beat.
Yeah, I know, I was showing-off the .338 MX just a bit ... sorry.
What you think about you do ... what you do, you become.
Winchester/Browning. Won't let a Marlin in the door, they either had head space issues or liked to break parts. Of course pre 1950 Marlins are a different story.
I have two levers, a 22lr and a 44 mag. Both Henrys.

Its been months since I bought the book, "How to scam people online". It still has not arrived yet!

I voted Rossi. My little 92 in 454 casull is without a doubt my all time favorite lever action rifle.
I've only got two Marlins, a .44 CL and a .444 . I just popped the scope on the .444 just to see how far out I can shoot the Lee 310 grainers. I don't know if I like having it on my gun. I got the scope for a beautiful .303 british that I have but you lose the ability to use stripper clips when you scope it. I can't make up my mind ! AHHHH.
i got a marlin, but i got a citrus like you call them.
having a little bit more money i would have bought a Rossi.
I used to really like the Winchester Model 94's when they were to be had at a reasonable price. But now that Winchester has "reintroduced" them at "platinum" prices, I don't want any.
I like Marlins, just hope Remington gets things sorted out, as it is a great lever gun.
The Rossi Model 92 looks real good to me.

When I wanted to buy a levergun last year, I learned that none of the guns I was familiar with as a kid are made today in anywhere near the same quality. I didn't want to look around for an antique Marlin or Winchester, hoping to find a good shooter. Maybe I could get lucky and find a Rossi that would shoot okay after I spent a couple hundred dollars smoothing it out. And I wasn't about to pay mucho dinero for a new Japchester. So I bought a Henry .357 and have been very happy. Well made, smooth out of the box, great shooter. Great thing about capitalism is when the old standby manufacturers take their customers for granted and try to pawn off cheap goods, someone else will fill the void.
My wife got me a new Rossi m92 with blued receiver 24in octagon barrel for my birthday this month. It has worked flawlessly! And has proven to be very accurate with BP. My wife put the first rounds through it with no previous experience with lever rifles at all at 50yd she shot a 12x18 zombie target square in the forehead right between the eyes with the first round! We put around 60 rounds of nothing but holy black through it worked like a champ the entire time.

THE GUNThe gun has been praised.
The gun has been denounced.
The gun has played a critical role in History.
The gun has been implemented for good.
The gun has been abused for evil.
With the gun comes a great moral responsibility!
To better understand the gun is to better under stand History. And with the gun protect your future.
