Which Lee factory crimp die for the .444?

I am pretty sure that they are the same one, but Graf has them for a lower total price. http://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/...tegoryId/1508?

I dont see any difference between the two either. Seems mighty odd that Lee would have the exact same crimp die with 2 different part numbers...

Thats odd. Went to lee's site wanting to compare both of them "on lee's site". Could only find the 90855, no listing for the 40680.

Lee recently repackaged their factory crimp dies into smaller, green hanger ready packs.

I imagine to keep the old red boxed stock seperate they gave the green hanger style a new number.

Played heck with my setup at the shop. The red boxes stack great, the new green.... "things" can only be hung, or they look horrible.

Can't figure where they will go on my bench now.

FWIW I have. Brand new Lee crimp die for the 444 and I've never used it ! The roll crimp from my standard RCBS dies has done a fine job for the last fifteen or so years . But I will keep the Lee just in case something happens that I need to change . I load cast for the 444 from 207 grains all the way up to 450 grains . I also have a Lyman M die that I use some but I'm not sure I really need that one either.

I agree with 6pt-sika. I have a Lee FCD for the .44 mag that I have used in my Dillon 450 loading for the .444 Marlin, and saw no real difference in performance than without the FCD. I use the Dillon powder funnel that puts a slight bell on the case mouth, so there is no need, for me, for a Lyman "M" die either. If you can achieve a good roll crimp with the dies you are using, there should be no need for a Lee FCD.
