The Gun Club, Robert Johnson, Nirvana, Slobberbone, and Woody Guthrie. I have no idea why those particular cds ended up out there but that's what I keep listening to and it works for me.

I must admit that I am pretty surprised by many/most of the answers here.

Ha Ha! I saw Milla Jovovich open for the Crash Test Dummies way the heck back in 1994! At the time, we all wondered who the heck she was.

I have such a wide variety of music that I love.

    Common Staples when Casting/Reloading are:

    Ted Nugent
    Darius Rucker
    Nirvana
    Dream Theater
    KISS
    Lynyrd Skynyrd
    Jimi Hendrix

A well known commercial caster here showed me a loud ticking clock he keeps by his pot. The steady rhythm of it gives a cadence to the time spent on cooling, return to pour and kept the mold near the same temp. Music that keeps the same beat helps but varying beats might not. Thanks, Dan.
I keep no food or drink in my casting area and if I need something or to take a leak I leave, clean up take care of things and return.

Its all over the map for kinds of music.

I like talk radio when casting. Car Talk (NPR), PGM's "Unshackled", AFA, etc. Music? When I get a chance it is KLOVE, or classical, mainly cello. As far as music is concerned otherwise it is anything from old Johnny Cash to Ska/reggae/dancehall/punk/NYHC/hardcore/Oi/classical/pop etc.

Mark Levin or a football game. Doesn't soothe the soul like Axel I suppose, but does the trick for me.

Limbaugh if the time is proper. Otherwise various talk shows that talk about scripture. Never any hippie music or its offspring.

Some sounds are inherent to the conditions which created the opportunity to cast and some are part of the process, but silence, or the absence of man-made noise, is more rare and endangered than beautiful vistas. That's one reason I like winter so much. Everyone else is in their houses instead of outside making noise.
