Might give Lyman a call and see what they will do for you to replace the handle assy. I had a 450 and the old style (like in your pic) handle assy broke and they replaced mine for free. Just sent (emailed) a pic of the broken one. New style are a lot stronger than the 'split rail' handle of the old one.
BTW, I'd go with the original grey.

The Dupont "Illusion" paint. It changes colors depending on how the light reflects off it,looks great. I have the cowl hood on my truck painted with it , goes from copper to reddish to deep blue to dark purple/blue.

need oversized powder funnels , PTX's or expanders ? just ask, I make 'em for most brands plus my own styles.

I like AK's original idea. Paint them Dillon blue. It should confuse everyone.

    regards,

There are chrome type powdercoats out there.

    Just saying...

Actually, I'll have to see whats in my PC inventory...yellow, red, ford blue, starburst red and blue, candy red, "chrome", etc, etc, etc.

The original color on those old ones is a dark, crappy gray. I keep my RCBS equipment looking good with Walmart 99 cent Kelly Green paint. It's a perfect match to the RCBS color. It's plenty cheap and very durable!

I wasn't going to resurrect this old thread, but I am glad it popped up, as I have finished the re-hab on these two old sizers. They turned out OK. When I get around to using them, I'll probably get the handle upgrade kit.

    This was "before."

With the number of "man hours" I have into these, they were probably not the spectacular deal that I first thought they were. But, I guess I would do it again.

I have owned three Lyman 450 sizers. One vintage 1968, still going strong, is a medium gray. The second one was orange, made about 1990 and was given to me by a friend because it leaked lubricant like a sieve. In the early nineties I sent it to Lyman for repair and to my delight and surprise was GIVEN a new Hammertone gray one, no charge. This was just about the time Lyman came out with the new 4500. The 1968 model dates from my bullseye pistol years and is filled with Felix lube. The "new" early nineties version holds NRA Alox and lubes all my rifle bullets.

Yes, I like Lyman equipment and service just fine!

I think they look good like they are, couldn't you just clear coat them?
