    Browning 1895

Does anyone know a good gunsmith to put a new barrel on a browning 1895? It is a 30-06 and I would to have a 35 whelen improved. I am thinking about a 20" or 22" barrel with a 1 in 14 twist.............Joe

You could have it rebored and rechambered. Jes told me he will do it if there is a minimum of .1" of steel left per side.
Measure your OD at the muzzle. Subtract .358" from that and if the remainder is .2" or over you are good.

    .

Jes ( in Oregon) charges $250, last time I checked...................

BTW - It's legal under Federal Law for anybody to send/receive their own firearm to/from a repair facility/FFL, w/o going through an FFL holder.

I talked to Jes last night and he will bore out to 35 Whelen but will not do the improved. Has anyone had him bore a rifle? How do they shoot?
