    45-70 BFR at night

You'll have to forgive me laughing like a dork but the muzzle flash at night was better in real life. 30 gr. 2400 and a 300 gr jacketed.

This year a grouse and I had a 20 minute stare off at dusk while pretending to Elk hunt. With 10 minute left of legal shoot time but in a fairly dark ravine I figured I'd skip my canned goods. A 10" 357 Herret and 190g Lead bullet of a heavy 1680 dose blinded me and I only heard the grouse fly off............good chuckels

I was working on a flintlock long ago and thought to surprise my neighbor at night for fun. I just had the lock with some ffffg in it. He came to the door and I set it off. We were both blind and laughing like nuts!

My first experience at night blindness came in Marine Infantry Training Regiment, Camp Pendleton, in 1959 when I snuggled up behind a BAR one dark night and cut loose. Quickly learned to close my eyes when I pulled the trigger. Could have been disastrous if it had been for real.

Thanksgiving Friday 87' ,28" model 120 Winchester,3" Remington nitro express, 29 minutes before sunrise(just barely legal hours) that honker I'll never forget! I got to see it a minute later.

45 Colts and 357s full of Unique are pretty impressive too!

Shot my 458AccRel at last light at a buck. 75 gr of 2230 gave a flash that blinded me for 5mins! Could hear him thrashing but not see him. Clint

I went through rifle instructor school during the first assault rifle ban with and AR15 16 inch barrel no flash suppressor. Touched it off in total darkness and all I could see was the shape of the front sight.

I had a Savage Stryker in 22-250 that would ruin your night vision in one shot shooting 32 gr. 3031 behind a 55 gr. bullet.

I'll giggle at that stuff too. I know I find the blast wave effect on small pine trees from my 1886 funny as hell.

tnoutdoors has a video of some rings of fire that's pretty cool.
