Is there anyone useing 18.x1546 R that might point me to a good starting load for a .318 bullet? Bore has a 16 1/2 twist if that helps. I am new to this, have had the rifel for fifty years my dad never shot it, but I hope too. Thanks oneguy

Depending on the gun you are going to shoot them in, you can copy loads for the the .32-40 cartridge, or .32 Winchester Special, both of which are similar case size and volume. The .32 WS also was made with 1 in 16" twist but uses a .321 diameter slug. I load 25 grains of IMR 3031 and a 180 grain boolit in my .32WS with excellent results. In Europe this cartridge is loaded to .30-30 Winchester velocities although "Shutzen" shooters download considerably for target shooting.
Please disregard the notion that you can use 32 Win data!
It is a "modern" case with rifles designed for smokeless pressures, most of the old rifles from the german speaking countries are rather weak in their action design.
Here is a boatload of info

Do a search right here on Cast Boolits for "8.15x46R", and also do another search on Google for the same thing. You will have a goodly amount of reading.

I have owned shot rifles chambered for the 8.15x46R for a long time. I don't own one at this time but when I did I used 12.5 grains of 4227 behind a 165 grain bullet and it worked very well.

Lots of info on the ASSRA forum.
Thank you very much. That 4227 is that IMR? is that a lite load or is that what you think I should start with?Forgive me but I'm new new at this,I do appreciate your help...Thanks
I'd speculate it was IMR and I would GUESS but will not say that as mild as this load is, any of the 4227s would do. Gopher Slayer is right on. THat is a target load and a fine one!
