If you "fire" the melting pot, then what are you going to get those buckets of lead melted in?
Maybe you should give the "melting pot" a raise and let it stay.

    Have fun anyway.

I guess I should have said "fire up" the melting pot huh?
Yeah, I got very lucky with this pile of range lead, a fellow caster scored the lead,
doesnt have the time to melt it, I do the work and get half the bounty for my trouble.
Its supposedly gonna be an ongoing thing

What does your smelting setup look like to do all that?

That's a very impressive setup. I've been using two ten pound mini-mags. It's a lot like running up hill....very slow...and I get tired out fast. Anyhow, very nice!

I got enough ambition gathered up to start into it today. I started at 11:15, quit at 4:20
Got through 4 1/3 buckets of range lead, made 2 buckets of jackets/dirt, and around 400 pounds of ingots
So I'm averaging about 100 pounds of clean lead per bucket, I think that is a pretty good return.

I sure wish it would warm up here enough to allow me to smelt some COWWs. Darn weather is typical for my part of the midwest....cold, no-so-cold, freezing-butt cold, and OMG cold with a touch of almost-spring for a half day at two or three week intervals.

    Jim,

My compliments on your color co-ordinated buckets. I see now who really has the money.

Edd, the buckets were not my doing , the fellow who procured the lead did that part.

I finished the ingoting of those 10 buckets today. According to my bathroom scales,
we netted 1050 pounds of range lead ingots. Took me 3, 4-5 hour sessions and about 1/2 of a 20 lb tank of propane.
Not bad "gas mileage" if you ask me, since a tank only runs me 8.50 if I fill it in Tuesday's.
This was my first major melt down, previous was 4 buckets of WW at one time. I'm cured of "smelting"-
    for a day or so

Sounds like time well spent! So is this your "lifetime's worth"; or will you shoot it all in due time?
