    M14 front sight dimensions

I'm going to make a scout type rifle out of a Savage 110 I recently acquired and I like the look of the M14/M1A front sight. Does anybody have one they could give me dimensions from? I'm looking for the size of the square base the fits the dovetail and the height from the bottom to the top of the blade. I'll be ordering a few sights but I need to make a barrel band to mount it and I'd like to get started cutting that before they arrive if possible.
Is this a......what day is this??

The 16" barrelled M14's often need a taller front sight.

Dimensions of standard USGI front sight.

Base length 0.617" (loose, clamping screw not tightened)
Base width 0.393" at rear, 0.395" at front
Post height from bottom of part to tip 0.535", post/blade height section only 0.210"
    Post width 0.075"

Front sight pad dovetail on flashider unit 0.290" on Rt side, 0.285" on L side
Inside angle part of pad dovetail 0.227" on R, and 0.223" on L. (as near as I can get with my jaws on my caliper.) Height of dovetail itself on base is 0.080"
These are measured off one in my possession and not from drawings.

I agree, there is a good kindred spirit here.

ETA- I edited for the blade height for clarity, the first was height for the whole front sight (integral base to sight tip), the smaller number is just the blade not counting it's integral base.
