Reloading Bench For The Dining Room...

So here is my situation. I plan to start reloading again next year, but I have to be frugal. I originally planned on moving everything to the garage, but the only way to do that while keeping my equipment and components dry (not to mention safe) is if I sink quite a bit of money into the garage for floor sealant, insulation, window bars, new locks, etc. I mentioned this dilemma to my wife today, and asked if she would be willing to let me set up in the dining room if I could find a way to disguise the bench. So I need some ideas/plans for a reloading setup that I can keep in the dining room. My Father-In-Law is more than capable of building presentation ready furniture, but it needs to be solid, secure, and be able to close up completely and look like it belongs in the house. Anyone have a solution?

When I started reloading, I lived in a tiny apartment. How tiny? I had to go outside to change my mind....... bada bing!

The only place I had to reload was on the kitchen table. Mounted my press on a pine board, and clamped that to the kitchen table. Reloaded like that for years....

do you have a dining room table that takes leaves to make it bigger? if so, have your father-in-law make you a leaf that you can mount your stuff to.

and there are several other threads in the forum about portable reloading kits. My kit (the linked thread) is easily storable in a closet when not in use.

A roll-top secretary's desk would be perfect if combined with a Lee or Patmarlin detachable press mount.

Butcherblock table with a double door cabinet for all the goodies on top and under for storage. You can make it look as fancy as need be with the doors.

A pantry style cabinet with double doors top and bottom. Top cabinets open to reveal worktop and bottom for lockable storage. Could be a made to fit or I've seen something similar at one of the home supply stores. Basically a loading bench in a giant box.

I used the shelves in the utility room for reloading for years. Now I have my own room (technically the office) in which to play. I use all portable equipment, LCL and Lee hand press.

I came across this site recently and built a portable stand for a Forster press, based on what I saw, but not identical. I think the concept is great and kudos to the Amish carpenter who built it. It could be adapted for most presses, I would assume, requiring only a small clamp to steady it on the protected table.

I haven't patronized the company which sells it,yet, but they might build something for you if you check with them.
