Contact Glenn, AKA lar45 here, of White Label Lube. He can suggest one of his very good lube's to match your needs. I pan lube the 2500+ for my higher speed stuff, otherwise I just tumble lube with 45-45-10. But Glenn and Leah are good folks, and will help you decide if not sure what is best for your needs. I went to GoodWill and offered them $5. for all the golf clubs they had. In all I got 23 clubs. Some are tapered, and some are stepped. I think I have a life time supply. If you know the thickness of the tubing, you can pretty well guess where to cut for a peticular caliber. If it's too big, use a tubing cutter and, cut just a small piece off. The cutter will reduce the id so you can ream/file/sand it to suit.
So far I've made cutters for all my pistol calibers and several rifle. Being careful, you can get several sizes from each shaft.
I almost never use my 450, except when size must be reduced significantly. Even then I sometimes panlube first.

Thinking back over my own Golf career I wholeheartedly agree!! For golf club shafts you can probably go to a Golf shop that does club repair and ask for some old shafts. They'll probably just give them to you.

I can't see that being too messy, if the lube mix is stiff enough.
I just got a Lyman lubesizer 450...but the dies are expensive, so I'll only be able to afford one every once in a while.
And I have lots of different caliber guns I'm casting for....so, I'll do both until I can get all 12 lubesizer dies.

    thanks, friend

I started panlubing boolits due to the cost of a lube-sizer-gizmo-thingy.  When I could afford one I started reading up on them and found that for every caliber I needed top punches and sizer collars and blah blah blah. Since panlubing worked I just never bought the sizer-gizmo. Maybe someday.
    <p>
I just bought a Lee sizer die for about $15. I spray the boolits with Pam cooking oil before running them through the sizer. Then I put them in a bowl with some dish soap and wash off the Pam and then dry them. To lube them, a flat cookie sheet with sides a little higher than the lube needs to be on the boolit, works just fine. I made a cookie-cutter out of a 444 Marlin casing. I drilled out the primer pocket to fit a 1/4" brass rod and I used my 44 Mag shell holder and various dies to neck the 444 down to what I want.

The "boss" wasn't too happy about me turning on the oven in the summer time so I started looking for one of those little toaster ovens. Instead I found a mini crock pot. It didn't get hot enough. I think it was designed for stinky dried flowers simmering in the bathroom. I found a plastic tea kettle type thing but it got too hot and nearly caught on fire when I wasn't watching it close enough. Then I was browsing a thrift store and found the perfect pan-luber for $4. It's an Oster electric foudue gizmo. The nicest part is that it belongs on my reloading bench and not in her kitchen.

    boolits turn out just fine.

I have always felt that a lube/sizer was more efficient and neater/cleaner than pan lubing. When you pan lube you have to lime up all the bullets in the pan, melt and pour the lube, and push or cut the bullets out. THEN you have to run it through a sizing die.

I just run it through my lube/sizer and I'm doen! But that's why they make Vanilla and Chocolate! Some folks like one and some like the other! So whatever works for you!

I'm about to start pan lubing because both my LAMIIs bend and size the boolits off center for my 30cals. I like the lams for my revolvers though and will continue with them.

I will pan lube only when I have absolutely no other lubing option. I find it tedious, messy and often a complete disaster, like any of the numerous time I bumped the pan and 80% of the bullets tipped over and became submerged into the hot lube.

    No thank you.

So are the bullets sized (via a Lee sizer die) first and then pan lubed or vice versa? Also, how do you attach gas checks when you pan lube?

I did my share of pan lubing. It works great when you get the hang of it. Pan lubing and push through Lee dies do a great job.
My problem was/is I cast from several hundred to a couple thousand boolits at a time. Pan lubing that many is messy and slow.
I broke down and bought a Star. No more boolits that the lube didn't stay in lube groove when pushed from the cake and things sped up dramatically.

size first with the lee sizer and install the gas checks if thats the case. use any type of lube for sizing (WD40, case lube, pam whatever). then pan lube and cut out with cake cutter.

Most any of the stick lubes will work especially if you use a cutter.

    Cheap and easy?

Randy Rats TAC in bulk one pound
Melt in a cake pan deep enough to cover lube groove and let cool. use cake cuter to cut bullet holes. insert unlubed sized bullets in holes. heat together and cut bullets from cake when cooled. I find they cut out best with lube still luke warm.

The only reason I ever stepped away from pan lube was speed. I always believed that pan lube the size through a Lee die made better boolits. I abandoned everything under 1000 FPS with pan or the Lyman 450. Now that the 450 is broken I'm going back to pan lubing. All the 38-45 cal stuff is tumble lubed and the GC stuff will be pan lubed.
