    Advice: Only Lubing One Groove

    Picked up a new to me Ideal 452460 two cavity and so far I'm very happy with the boolits that are dropping from it.

    The problem is my .452 sizer die for my Lyman 450 only has holes at one level and I can't for the life of me get any lube in the top groove.



    I know you can run .38 wadcutters with only one groove lubed but I don't think it would work with these small grooves.

    I'm considering running them through the 450 then tumble lubing them.

    Should I look for a different die with multiple holes?

    Any thoughts?

    Can you adjust the 450 so the punch pushes the bullet deeper into the die?

    I have a Saeco 2 groove 185 grain mold that I use for my match loads and just lube the bottom groove. Works fine for me. I started lubing one groove years ago when I noticed that there were lube strings on the target at 50 feet and figured that I could be using too much lube. Even though this mold casts at .451 when fed range scrap I have never had any leading with it.
    Some times it's the pot,
    Some times it's the pan,
    It might even be the skillet,
    But, most of the time, it's the cook.

    Yap for that boolit lube in one groove is plenty.

    Done tried that, can't get it deep enough. Like I haven't heard that before

    Thanks for the input. Saves me an extra step.

    Now to load some dummy rounds and see how they work in my Sistema Colt.

    Tried these but they don't like my gun.

    I fear that until a select few can profit from not treading on me, nothing will change.

    one lube groove is plenty.
    most of my better rifle boolits only have one lube groove.
    and the ones that have more usually only get one filled, unless they are super tiny.
    and then i will just lube the gas check area.
