    Longshot Powder

I've been using some Longshot patterns are pretty good but it meters terrible. I tried it out of an RCBS powder measure it was no better than the sizemaster. So I just weighed them slow but I'm only doing a few boxes. I thought it might be something I doing so I tried some Pro Reach and it metered fine. FB

I use longshot and it seems to meter just fine in a MEC with the universal charge bar.
When you say it doesn't meter-what do you mean? Charges aren't consistent?

I was loading pheasant loads Fed Gold Medal Win 209 35gr Longshot Win AA12 114 1.25 oz #5

Yes I was getting inconsistent charges. I'm also using a Mec with universal charge bar. I'm going to try again and test consistency. I'm pretty sure it was something I was doing maybe the set screws not tight enough or something. And I'll try the powder measure and compare results.

As far as Longshot and Pro Reach both powder burned very clean patterns were good in both. I got to try both at pheasant shoot with 1.25 oz of #5 both loads very effective. I used some Fed premium loads and was surprised how much dirtier they shot. FB

Faret, I think I'll wash out my powder bottles good and wipe out the powder measure with a dryer sheet before I try again. Good idea thanks for the suggestion. FB
