Pat finally got time to make me a special PB checkmaker to produce taller gas checks. This came out of my desire to try a check with sidewalls taller than the diameter of the gas port on my .450B.
I spent some time messing around with copper and wound up using soft .010 to make these. One issue that's come up is the diameter of the lip on the cup when the check gets this tall. It's bigger than the mouth of the appropriate Star or Lee push through die. As a result I have to seat them by running the boolits through base first using only designs with a really flat meplat. The first pic is of the tall check on a ranch dog 290, (over a standard check as this is not a PB design), the BDacp and a BD 293 with a standard check for comparison. The other pic is just a comparison of the checks. Unfortunately this week and next are pretty busy so it may be the middle of the month before I get to try them out. I'll keep ya posted on the results
