    Rossi/Taurus Carbine in 28 ga

    Hi Guys,
I didn't know were to put this so I put it here.

The Rossi/Taurus revolver carbine has caught my imagination.

If you replace the barrel with a rifled 55 cal barrel it looks like you might have the start of something.
RMC makes solid brass 23/4 inch cases for 28 gauge and mountain molds can do a bullet mold.
I dont know if the cylinder would need mods or not but that should be easy for a gunsmith.

I'm just guessing here but I think 600 grain bullets at 1500fps is possibe.
It would make one hell of a trail gun in bear country.
5 rounds as fast as you can pull the trigger in a small carbine. Not bad.

    Cheers, John

Have you seen the stock design on these guns ?

I can't imagine a 600 gr. bullet at 1,500 fps. You might be better off with the bear....................

Collecting .32 molds. Please let me know if you have one you don't need, cause I might "need" it!

I think I would try a .530 - .535" Round ball in a shotcup with the smoothbore first. It would be more in line with a 28 ga load than anything that weighed 600 grains.

Plus it would keep things legal.

With Brenneke slugs being available now, I think this is covered.

Shotshells go 12,000 PSI or so and you are looking at pushing to 40,000????

    Hello All,
It seems its not that hard to replace the barrel with a rifled .585 barrel and modify the cylinder for 577 2 3/4 inch Light Nitro.
That cartridge is very mellow, only about 20K pressure. Might have to shorten the cases a bit but I'm not sure yet.

It would be a ton of fun at the range.

    Cheers, John
