making lead shot

ok so i know the hole shotmaker thing but it seems to be a bit $$$

what about making a mold for lead wire and casting it then cuting it to what it needs to be(ie same as diameter) puting it in a rotary tumbler with steel bb's and tumbling it to make it round


i need to make #4-#6 shot and maybe #2(bigist shot size for small game in ontario)

lead shot is getting a little pricey for me even reclaimed stuff is $80 of 50lb and thats mostly #7-#9

its getting to the point where this poor boy cant buy it any more

I think the idea has potential but roundness and the time it would take could be a problem. I know what you mean I got nauseous every time I price lead shot. The time it would take to cast wire then cut to length just seems like too much time. I wonder if you could get skies unlimited to cut you #4 mold but only one pellet deep so fill out would be good that still may be faster. FB

ya a #4 pellet and a #2 pellet in the same mold would be cool

and the price on shot is the same here as it is there
