    Any suggestions for 243 Win?

I never see any boolit recommendations or discussions for 243- why is that? Molds listed seem to be very few and expensive on the catalogues.

There is a few threads out there, but if your like me, the search function is a waste of time and I can never find what I'm looking for.

I have the Lyman 85gr RN, but aint shot it much since its single cavity. A friend uses these and says they shoot good.

I mainly use the RCBS 95gr SP and that one shoots very good in 3 different 243's. My brother uses around 14-14.5gr 2400 and shoots a ragged hole at 50yds.

Mine likes 15.5gr 4198 and .3gr poly and shoots 3/4" at 100yds. The wifes is almost as good with this load, but I need to fine tune it for her.

For varmints, I use the Forster 1/16" hollow pointer and drilled it 3/8" deep. This is pretty impressive in the big hole making department. I shot a skunk at 80yds last fall and it nearly took out the whole opposite side with straight WW alloy.

Have not shot cast in my .243(6MM) as of yet, but do shoot cast in 6MM Rem. BR
The Saeco 243 mold does real well in it with AA2015, the Lyman Lovern didn't fare so well for some reason that I have yet to discover.
I also have the RCBS 243-95 SP and 24-100 SP molds with boolits cast but again have not shot any, I can't seem to find time to get the range.

244496 and the RCBS 95 gr work so well over 12-14 gr 2400 that there isn't much to write about or experment with. Start wit 12 gr and work up by .5 gr and you wil lhit your sweet spot.

One problem in this caliber is obtaining gas checks for it. Hornady at times stopped making them. Lyman no longer makes a bullet mold for this caliber. I solved the GC problem by making my own with a Freechex tool. The 95 grain RCBS 6mm bullet works well in my Rem 700.

The search option does take a little getting use to,
But once you learn a few tricks, it's quite helpful

Try searching for the 245496. These numbers change from time to time, with the third digit varying, apparently, due to the whims of Lyman. The first three digits are the boolit diameter in "Lyman-speak", and the last three are some arbitrary shape designator. Look on this site to see a picture of the boolit. It's the last one on the right in the second row: http://www.three-peaks.net/bullet_molds.htm

RCBS 95 SP is a regular-stock item. Shouldn't be too tough to find.
I don't paint bullets. I like Black Rifle Coffee. Sacred cows are always fair game. California is to the United States what Syria is to Russia and North Korea is to China/South Korea/Japan--a Hermit Kingdom detached from the real world and led by delusional maniacs, an economic and social basket case sustained by "foreign" aid so as to not lose military bases.
