3118 is the OLD designation for the 311008. Its a nominal .312" for the 32-20. My 1990s vintage Lyman drops 'em at .314".
The 218 should be stamped on both sides. Those numbers were used during manufacturing to keep them together as a set. According to Floodgate's data, it's been around since at least 1896. ...Geo

311284? 214 gn round nose gas check and the top punch #467. It is a 30 cal boollit. In lyman mold reference tables its says its 214 grns and in the loads they say its 210 grns... how about a picture of the cavity so were all on the same page

I would rather die on my feet than
Live on my knees.
My old single cavity Ideal is marked the same (spacing). The cherry # is different, drops @.314 and a consistent 115 gr. from 50/50 ww/pb. Good mold, gets used a lot.

I agree, 311008. .311 nominal diameter. Lyman didn't use the filler numbers in the old
days because the two numbers were seperated, one for nominal diameter and the second
for the cherry design. After they became joined it was necessary to add filler zeros to make
them all 6 digits for consistency.

If it was easy, anybody could do it.
284 should be the cherry number used to cut the bullet, 8 would be the designation of the cherry used. It looks like a 3118 instead of a 311284.

Looks to me like 284 is the block paring number and should be on both blocks. 311 8 would be the cherry number.
Yep, a 3118 and that's a great one for the .30 Carbine or .32 S & W or .32 Mag. Nice, because it's an Ideal and propable casts in the .313-314" range. You got a good 'un there./beagle
diplomacy is being able to say, "nice doggie" until you find a big rock.....
My old Ideal single cavity drops at .314 or so, I size to .313 for 32-20. Works well!!!!!!
