data book

hi ,i have these books ,do i really need the new lyman book ?,will it tell me more than i already have? or is it just nice to have it in my meager collection?.
i only cast for a small hand full of milsurp rifles(8mm j&jsbore,-.308,6.5,45.70,and my mod94 30.30).
what do ya think ,should i order it?

you got 3 more lyman books than i have already.
the new book was mainly written by mike venturino, so i can guess at whats written in it.
lots of foundry lead that's hard and a lot of aa-5744 loads. [20-1 and lino]
it's what he uses.
but i can get that from the accurate powder book too.

yer run i think all the info i need is in the ones i got, i'll pass on the recent edition unless i see it in front of me then i'll probably buy it ,i'm a sucker that way!.

I like to have them all because our interests sometime change as we get older and the next manual might drop the cartridge of the next new toy. I have 6mm,6.5mm and 7mm benchrest guns and none of them are in the new Lyman book but the older one has some information.

Although I agree with Blackthorn, I think the 3rd Edition Cast bullet Handbook is much better than the newest one. Seems to be more info/charts in the older one and written by several authors vs one, Mr. Venturo (fine author & gun writer, but I'd like to see a variety of authors...)

I agree. The 4th ed was a disappointment to me.

Jim, that's a good start. I would need another shelf for all mine, but they sure arn't near as neat as your books, and mine look a lot more dog eared.

jim, nice pile-o-books , i have more but i cant come close to you yet ,but i will,,lol.
from all i have read yet it seems that the new book is a bit of a "flop" with some of you guys.
but like blackthorn says "you can never have too many" i tend to agree.

I hoard powder. That said, I need the old books as they have correct data for the old powder I use. I've got 2400 that was bought new in 1970 and I've still got about thirty pounds of it as well as much H-4831 and H-870. My Red Dot circa 1968 is about gone.
