My first Lyman mold

I struck a mold trade deal with Nanuck. I got a Lyman 266469.
After I got the heat right, they came out pretty good. I'll say one thing for this mold, they drop right out. No beatin' and bangin' with a stick.
I just might have to start lookin' around for some other Lyman molds.

Just beware of the recent issues that have been reported with newer Lyman moulds being undersized.

Don't think he has that problem here. If I read the dial right it is a tad over .267, mold spec is .266

yer i got that mould a couple of weeks age and mine drop right around the .267 mark --good mould -no hang ups either

I bought 3 Lyman 30cal GC molds this year. The 311299 casts .299" x .310", so just about perfect for my K31s. It would be close in my 30-06s. The 311679 Ardito is about .300" x .310", and the 311644 is .300" x .311". Both of these latter have an ogive that tapers to a larger diameter towards the driving bands. Mine have been pretty round and even from cavity to cavity. The 311299 looked like it might be problematic until I took it off the Lee handles and put it on Lyman handles.

I'm not a fan of overly fat bullets, and prefer to not size more than .002".

I didn't see any grit or grime. Looked to me like it was ready to go. I fired up the pot and went straight to it. Works fine.

With Lyman molds the rule of thumb is "By Older Model Used".

Stick with that rule of thumb and inspect before you buy and you will be fine; no guarantees otherwise.

Same goes for NEI as well, unfortunately two American companies that have fallen from greatness sort of like the country in general unfortionatly.
